Summary of Problem 
Singapore being a “tourism port”, the country has many elements that play into its’ name. One of those elements is Singapore being an urbanized shopping haven, and the main area or street for that is Orchard Road. Orchard Road is Singapore’s retail heart, stretching 2.2 kilometres-long, the area is a major shopping belt and tourist attraction. It has always been an important street, connecting the residential area of Tanglin to the business and commercial areas of Raffles Place and High Street.

However, Orchard Road has been losing its’ popularity in this vastly speed-changing world. Orchard Road is facing similar challenges as many other traditional downtown shopping strips around the world. It is remaining stagnant and getting “boring” as many would describe the once-popular, bustling street now. 

Therefore, to tackle this unavoidable challenge in this constantly changing society, Orchard should not just depend on the area just being a prime shopping paradise of Singapore for Singaporeans and tourists. Instead of adapting to what society names as the current “trend” and conforming to what other countries are doing, it is time to extract the interesting characteristics of Orchard Road deep into the past and bring it to relevance in the present. This gives an automatic and peculiar “trending” platform for Singapore’s Orchard Road. Instead of Orchard Road becoming a more modern shopping place that follows societal norms, Orchard Road will finally earn its’ own identity like the other known tourist attractions in Singapore.

Problem
A stagnated, never-changing and outdated shopping identity to Orchard.

Insight
Orchard is meant to be a tourist attraction but it has gotten “lazy”. The area fails to attract anyone anymore for a long time, it is not living up to its‘ name and for a tourist attraction, it has no identity as its’ own but just tries to imitate other prospering places in other countries like trying to replicate a Shibuya-style scramble walk is on trial when Orchard itself needs to gain back their lost bloom it once had.
